My daughter got married today

Squash is 5 years old. I never knew I would see her get "married" so young, but then again I must have forgotten how little girls are. Squash married her Boppa (sounds like Ba-pa) today, and it was hilarious. Boppa is my stepdad, the name stuck when Squash couldnt say Grandpa quite right when she was learning to talk. It works out well, because she actually has 3 grandpa's and it can be confusing to differentiate them at times.

It was very enlightening to see what her version of the wedding should be. It was actually quite similar to real weddings I have experienced. We had the stress of "Are you ready yet?", while trying to gather the attendants (my mom, my sister, the groom himself and I). Trying to get everyone in the same room at the same time was a challenge this afternoon.

The wedding consisted of bringing a radio in to the kitchen, handmade crowns for the bride and groom, and the wedding dance.

Its raining, its pouring, the old man....

Well I am officially tired of this weather. Its like Florida here; its been raining on and off every day. You get about an hour or two of sun and then it rains or hails. If its gotta be like Florida, cant I at least have an ocean, too?

I at least got a good start on my garden, finally! So far I have peas, beans, tomatoes, potatoes and some flowers put in.

Squash's birthday party is coming up in 2 weeks, so I have been motivated to make the yard look pretty for all the guests that are coming. Which reminds me, I really do need to get the rest of the invitations out ASAP!

This year, most of my family wont be there. Many of them are out of the country, unfortunately. So we are compensating by inviting a million of my friends who have children, enough to keep Squash occupied so I can have some adult conversation.

We'll have food again, of course, and another Moonwalk. This year I upped the anty though. We're having a massive 4 in 1 combination to make up for all the extra adults. I mean children. I found it humorous that the adults seemed to enjoy last years Moonwalk more than the kids did!

And now, my friends, I am off to search for wild asparagus with my mother and child. Another quality day ahead. And Im bringing an umbrella. To hell with nature.

Today is my daughters birthday. Squash, Mommy will love you like nobody loves you, no matter how many times you pee in my bed. I love you, Squashy.

Old

My brilliant daughter has come up with a new definition of old....

"Mommy, older means you're old, right?"

Good way to put it. I bet my mother would like this thought process, to be able to consider herself young once again because someone out there is older than her, and therefore holds the title of "Old".

Its raining again today. Im so tired of rain. My garden is currently covered in clumps of chicken crap, waiting to be tilled under, if it ever stops raining long enough! I want to plant potatoes, tomatoes and peas this year. Maybe some carrots and beets if I can get the garden ready in time.

Offspring child is begging to go to preschool today, and Im thoroughly tempted after the hundredth time of her thinking it funny to try and lick me. 4 more days on the countdown until she turns 5. Ive been swinging from panic to pride and back again, as I also wonder how the hell I have a 5 year old already.

Sometimes I feel that complete, overwhelming love for her that makes me literally want to eat her right up. Its the strangest sensation. Perhaps her licking me is her way of saying "I love you enough to gobble you up, Mommy!"

The start of me...

Im asking myself, why start a blog? Or a blaaaahhhg, as I usually think of it. Perhaps because it is nearly 1 AM on Monday morning and I should be sleeping, or perhaps because I know my typical outlets for my madness are tired of hearing about my drama, or maybe I just like the idea of an online diary, so to speak.

My precious offspring child is currently snoozing in my bed, amidst books that she fell asleep reading, while my dog is smooshed up by her face. I should be sleeping. But in fact I sleep way too much. Sleep is my enemy. I love sleep. Its such a love/hate relationship, I have to constantly remind myself of some weird statistic that said that most people sleep 1/4 or 1/5 of their lives and Im probably up to 1/2 by now. Im envious of the people who say they will sleep when they are dead.

My life, in a (very large) nutshell, will be told on this blog. I must say it is cheaper than therapy and I dont have to schedule an appointment!

So here it goes....
